Project Overview
Located in the iconic Aquarius building in Surfers Paradise, this full apartment renovation was a prime example of how strategic upgrades can elevate space, functionality and value. We focused on delivering a transformation that involved redesigning layouts, updating all fittings, and creating a cohesive modern style – unlocking a rare opportunity to convert a standard 2-bedroom apartment into a full 3-bedroom residence.
Smart spatial redesign
- Reconfigured the original kitchen and living room layout by relocating the entire kitchen to the opposite side of the living area.
- The extra space made it possible to add a third full-sized bedroom – a rare and valuable upgrade in this building.
- Despite the layout change, we ensured the open-plan living and kitchen area retained a spacious and comfortable feel, maintaining natural flow and functionality.
Ceiling works and lighting design
- Applied a skim coat across all ceilings to achieve a sleek, modern flat finish – eliminating the outdated textured ceiling and reflecting natural light more evenly.
- Installed custom bulkheads with LED strip lighting around the perimeter of each room, adding a modern feel and neatly hiding engineering elements.
Acoustic flooring upgrade
- Removed the existing tiled floors to meet the apartment’s acoustic regulation standards.
- Applied a liquid acoustic compound that dries into a sound-absorbing, bouncy base – ensuring effective noise insulation before new flooring was installed.
Refreshed amenities and finishes
- Updated both bathrooms with modern vanities, frameless glass showers and backlit mirrors, blending minimalism with luxury.
- Enhanced the laundry area with integrated cabinetry and new appliances, keeping the design seamless and efficient.
- Installed all-new fittings and fixtures throughout to match the clean, modern aesthetic of the space.
